How a virtual machine works (and what a cloud server is)

Your cloud server is a slice of someone else's computer.

A hypervisor takes one physical server, here 64 vCPUs and 256 GiB of memory, and slices it into pieces. Each piece gets its own CPUs and memory and runs its own Windows or Linux.

The walls are real: if one crashes, the others keep running.

The slices in the film are real AWS sizes: 32, 16, 8 and 8 vCPUs fill the host exactly. Save this one.
